Malvern Girls' College has always believed strongly in preparing girls for later life by giving them the opportunities to develop self-reliance and independence. The school does not seek to mould girls into a pattern but to provide them with the right conditions and opportunities to develop their potential.
The school prides itself on the academic achievements of its pupils. In 1992 and 1994 it was named by the Financial Times as one of the top five boarding schools in the country on the basis of A level results. In the 1994 examinations the pass rate was 99% with 76% at grades A and B. More than 90% of pupils go on to higher education, the most popular universities being Oxford, London, Cambridge and Bristol.
In addition to the academic curriculum, the school also has a long record of success in sport and music. The school's facilities are excellent and include an all weather playing surface, an indoor heated swimming pool and an innovative dome-shaped sported hall. The instrumental and choral work of the College is well known and the choir has toured abroad.
There is a strong emphasis on computing skills and as well as a large computer centre there are 12 computers in the library linked on a network to CD-ROM databases. There are also computers in the Boarding Houses.
Special emphasis is placed on a well-defined and integrated approach to the pastoral care of the pupils. In addition to those with special responsibilities in this area, all members of staff are encouraged to be aware of the welfare and happiness of the girls whom they teach.
